Preparing a new spreadsheet
Read below for steps on creating and preparing the CSV file. If you are going to export a spreadsheet from your software, skip ahead to the next section.
1. Open a blank spreadsheet in Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel, or download our example sheet
2. Create header columns by typing 'email' in cell A1, 'location'* in cell B1, and 'name' in cell C1
3. In column A, paste or type in your contacts email
4. In column B, paste or type in your contacts location *(if you only have a single location you can skip adding it)
5. In column C, paste or type in your contacts name (if you have them)
6. If you have any other contact data you would like to include, add it in additional columns
7. Save and download as a CSV file

Exporting from your software
Exporting from your software is the quickest and easiest way to organise a contact list. Each software has a different way to download a contact list.
If you're not sure how to get a contact list from your software, contact the software provider and ask them how to download a CSV file that contains a list of contacts who have had a transaction within the past 3 months. The file needs to contain an email address for each contact, and any other contact data you can download is good to include.
Your export should look something like this (with data specific to your business) -

Format requirements
1. CSV file (comma-separated value)
2. Single-sheet. The spreadsheet should only have one sheet
3. Must contain column headers in first row. The column headers can be whatever you like - you will match them to your Customer Radar programme settings when uploading
4. Must contain email addresses
5. Emails must be formatted. Every email needs to be formatted correctly: email@domain.com otherwise it won't be accepted
6. Each cell should only contain one piece of data. Don't include more than one piece of data in each cell (eg, having two or more email addresses in one cell)
7. Mobiles must be formatted (NZ customers only). To be able to reply by SMS, every mobile must be formatted 642******** or 02******** (no +, and must include leading 0 if not including 64)
Note: If some cells are blank (eg, some contacts have names and some don't), it's fine to include them as long as all contacts have at least an email address.
